MENLO PARK, Calif. (KTVU) - Some Facebook users are noticing a new option when it comes to posting status updates.
Facebook has rolled out live video to a group of select users.
According to a Facebook blog, “Live" lets you show the people you care about what you’re seeing in real time — whether you’re visiting a new place, cooking your favorite recipe, or just want to share some thoughts.”
You can find out if you have the feature by opening Facebook on your mobile device and clicking status.
Under your status update you notice an icon on the right that allows you to ‘go live.’
If you have the feature, you’ll have to go to your privacy settings to allow Facebook to access your microphone.
Once you tap ‘go live’ your video will be streamed to your Facebook friends.
During your broadcast you can see the number of live viewers and a real-time stream of comments. You can block viewers at any time during your broadcast.
Once you’re done broadcasting, tap ‘finish.’
Your broadcast will live on your Timeline.
It’s unclear when the Live Video function will be rolled out to all users.
