FBI asks for public's help to find Bay Area bank robber

SAN FRANCISCO (KTVU) -- Federal law enforcement authorities were asking for the public's help in identifying and finding a man responsible for the robberies of at least two Bay Area banks.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information about the incidents, the most recent one reported in San Mateo on May 12 at Provident Credit Union, which is located in the 2700 block of South El Camino Real.

Authorities said in a written statement that the man is also suspected of holding up the First Republic Bank, located in the 2000 block of Van Ness in San Francisco, on April 22.

No injuries have been reported from either incident but investigators said the robbery at the credit union was a takeover incident.

The suspect was described as a white or Hispanic male who has applied tan-colored makeup to his face and wears a dark-colored, long-haired wig. He is 6-feet tall and believed to be in his 30s. Investigators said he has flashed a black revolver during one of the incidents.
