Quail fire breaks out in Solano County

A grass fire near Vacaville called the Quail fire had prompted evacuation orders for several hours on Saturday.

A vegetation fire ignited in Vacaville Saturday afternoon, triggering an evacuation order that lasted for several hours as the fire grew to 135 acres, fire officials said.

By 8:20 p.m. the fire was 45% contained and the evacuation order had been lifted, according to Cal Fire Sonoma-Lake-Napa Unit said. An evacuation warning was in effect for the Quail fire.

There have been no injuries reported or buildings damaged by the fire, Cal Fire said.

The blaze, dubbed the Quail Fire, erupted near Quail Canyon Road and Pleasants Valley Road.

The fire is located in a rural, hilly region of Solano County, just south of the Putah Creek State Wildlife Area.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Law enforcement said they are investigating a person who had been using a lawn mower.
