Firefighters responding to homeless encampment blaze underneath highway 580 overpass in Emervyville
EMERYVILLE, Calif. (KTVU) - Firefighters in Oakland tonight are responding a fire underneath Interstate Highway 580 where a homeless encampment lies, near the Emeryville border, according to a dispatcher with the Oakland Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 8:19 p.m. underneath the highway's overpass, near Peralta and 36th streets, the dispatcher said.
KTVU sent a camera crew to the scene and was able to see garbage and belongings from the encampment on fire.
There are no reports of any injuries. Further information was not immediately available.
