Former Vallejo teacher arrested, accused of sexual acts against minors
VALLEJO, Calif. - A former teacher with the Vallejo City Unified School District was arrested and charged with several sexual offenses involving a minor, authorities said.
John Paul Acac, 46, was arrested Thursday shortly before 3 p.m. by the Vallejo Police Department. He has been charged with lewd and lascivious acts with a minor and intimidating a witness or victim.
He has pleaded not guilty.
Acac first began working for the district in Fall 2005 and just recently resigned on Dec. 9, 2024. Officials said he held multiple positions as a teacher and athletic coach at Vallejo High School and John Finney Education Complex.
The reasons behind his resignation weren't immediately made known.
It also remains unclear if the victim(s) were former students or pupils of Acac while he worked as a teacher or coach.
Acac is facing 14 felony counts and is being held on a $585,000 bail in the Solano County Jail.
Officials said the alleged crimes occurred around 10 years ago, but still encourage anyone who may have been a victim or knows a victim of sexual assault involving Acac to contact Vallejo Police Officer Valeria Banda at (707) 567-9605 or valeria.banda@cityofvallejo.net.
Survivors can also contact Det. Daniel Callison at daniel.callison@cityofvallejo.net or (707) 648-4533.
KTVU reached out to Vallejo High School for comment but didn't immediately hear back, however, district officials said in a letter that Acac was placed on administrative leave on Nov. 19 and that the charges were "related to a former student," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
The newspaper also reported a district official said the district is cooperating with the Vallejo Police Department.
