SAN JOSE (KTVU) -- Fremont Police say their missing dog in the department's K9 unit has been found in a creek bed in the area of Almaden and Branham in San Jose.
Niko is a 16-month-old dog, who disappeared from his handlers yard sometime between 10 p.m. and midnight in San Jose's Willow Glen neighborhood.
He weighs 85-pounds and has an ear tattoo, police said.
Niko was also wearing a metal collar, and is "microchipped," said Fremont Police.
Niko is Fremont Police Department's newest K9, and has been with the force for a couple of weeks, officials said.
K9 handlers say Niko's natural instinct would be to return to his original training home in the Czech Republic, so he is likely roaming and lost.
