Lizette Cuesta graduated from Silver Creek High School in San Jose in 2016.

A current student told KTVU on Tuesday afternoon that her murder was talked about among former classmates.

The East Side Union High School District’s Office of the Superintendent released a statement regarding Cuesta’s passing.

“The Silver Creek community is mourning the loss of Lizette Andrea Cuesta, a 2016 graduate from Silver Creek High School, whom tragically passed away last night, Monday, February 12, 2018. We are in shock and disbelief regarding this tragic event. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family, friends, and loved ones.”

Cuesta was found stabbed in on Tesla Road in Livermore at around 2 o’clock Monday morning.

The 19 year-old was airlifted to the hospital and despite the severity of her injuries was able to give investigators information that led to the arrests of Modesto residents Daniel Gross, 19, and Melissa Leonardo, 25.

Before relocating to Tracy to live with her father, Cuesta could often be found at Great Oaks skate park where balloons were placed on a flag pole in her memory.

“She would practice here and there and take her time and she’d learn by herself sometime,” described Brandon Bermudez of Cuesta’s earnest to learn skateboarding.

He planned to attend a vigil at the skate park on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for friends & family.
