Hate graffiti found at Santa Clara University
SANTA CLARA, Calif. - A swastika and anti-gay slurs were drawn inside a residence hall at Santa Clara University.
The vandalism was discovered last week inside the dorm, Casa Italiana.
University officials say a swastika was drawn inside an elevator and inflammatory language directed toward the LGBT community was found on the fourth floor community bulletin board.
Surveillance video has surfaced showing two young men inside an elevator and it appears they are using their own blood to draw on the wall.
The University has not confirmed if the video shows the vandalism taking place, but did say they are troubled by vandalism that occurred two weeks ago.
Surveillance video shows several people hitting an art installation on the campus. The display showed 43 wooden silhouettes representing Mexican students who went missing in 2014.
The University president issued a statement saying, "I encourage you not to stand idly by and ignore what has happened, but to discuss openly why such attacks of hatred are reprehensible. I know that you will not allow the individual or individuals who have defaced our facilities and shamed our school to think that we at Santa Clara will tolerate such actions."
The school is planning to host a forum next Tuesday to discuss recent event and how to move forward.
