Heavy smoke from fire along Oakland pier

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - The Oakland Fire Department is responding to a fire near the waterfront.

KTVU roof camera recorded heavy smoke billowing from the scene around noontime Saturday.

The fire department told KTVU Fox 2 that crews battled a single alarm fire at 2201 East 7th Street along the pier, near the Park Street Bridge.

A fire department dispatcher said a part of the dock caught fire, but authorities say it's too early to tell what sparked the blaze.

The dispatcher said there were no reports of injuries.
