YOSEMITE, Calif. (KTVU) - A hiker fell to his death from the Half Dome cables in Yosemite National Park around 4:30 pm. Monday.
According to the National Park Service, the male hiker was on the Half Dome cables hiking with another person during thunderstorm activity.
Rangers were told the hiker slipped and fell from the cables. Rangers responded and helped a second hiker.
The first hiker didn't survive and his body was recovered at 1 p.m. Tuesday. His identity has not yet been released.
This is the first fatality on the Half Dome cables since 2010, according to the National Park Service.
