Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek reopens after crash kills pedestrian
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - All lanes of southbound Interstate 680 in Walnut Creek have reopened, following a car crash that killed a pedestrian.
The CHP was told that the pedestrian, for some reason, was on the roadway and ran from lane #1 to the right hand shoulder, and was hit by the vehicle.
The crash was reported at 10:46 p.m. Monday on I-680, near the Treat Boulevard on-ramp.
All southbound lanes of the highway were blocked, as authorities issued a Sig-alert.
The CHP said the driver of a white, Chrysler sedan, that hit the person, stopped at the scene, and was cooperating with officers.
The identity of the pedestrian has not been released.
The roadway was eventually cleared, and the Sig-alert was canceled at 12:28 a.m. Tuesday.
