Is X down? Elon Musk claims ‘massive cyberattack’

Elon Musk said Monday that his social media platform X was hit with a cyberattack.
Tens of thousands of outage reports were spiking for the site earlier in the day.

The backstory:
According to downdetector.com, more than 40,000 instances of X being down were reported as of 9:42 a.m. ET Monday.
By 10:30 a.m. ET, that number had dropped to just over 1,000 reports but spiked up again around 11:45 a.m. ET and 1 p.m. ET.
X ‘cyberattack’
What they're saying:
Musk replied to a tweet saying X was down that officials with the team were tracing a cyberattack.
"There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X. We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large coordinated group and/or a country is involved," he said, adding, "Tracing…"
