Kidnapping suspect arrested following police chase

Firearm seized by Vallejo Police Department

Vallejo police arrested a man with several warrants out for his arrest, including two for kidnapping, on Friday following a police chase.

The backstory:

Vallejo officers said they saw a Honda Accord driving on Broadway Street on Friday with an expired registration. When they tried pulling over the driver, the driver sped off.

Officials said the driver had a "complete disregard for public safety" as he committed several traffic violations while trying to evade police.

The driver eventually parked his car in the 200 block of Cadloni Lane and ran home, police said.

Officers surrounded the home, and eventually the suspect surrendered.

When asked why he fled to begin with, he admitted to having an active warrant for his arrest and hiding an unregistered, fully-loaded gun with an extended magazine under his bed, according to police.

The gun was also illegally modified to work as a fully automatic weapon, officials said.

What we don't know:

Police didn't share what time of day the incident occurred on Friday. The suspect wasn't publicly identified, and it's also unclear how long the police pursuit lasted.

What's next:

With warrants out for shooting at a dwelling, assault with a deadly weapon, and two for kidnapping, he was booked into the Solano County Jail with a bail over $150,000.

The gun was seized and his car towed.
