Lafayette Police warn parents after man offered student a ride
LAFAYETTE, Calif. (KTVU) - Lafayette Police are warning the public after a suspicious person approached a child who was walking after school Tuesday.
According to police, the Burton Valley Elementary student was walking from Burton Valley Elementary school to an after-school event at the Rancho Colorado Swim and Tennis Club around 2:45 p.m. when a car pulled up and a man slightly rolled down the window before asking if the student needed a lift.
The student responded "No!" before running to a woman who was walking with two kids. The student didn't talk to the woman, but walked near them for safety.
The man's vehicle is described as a black colored SUV, possibly a Dodge, with front window tint.
Lafayette Police are hoping to talk to residents in the Burton Valley area along Rohrer Drive and Silverado Drive who may have surveillance video of the incident.
Police would also like to speak to the woman who was with the two children in the area. Anyone with information is asked to email 94549tip@gmail.com or Police Dispatch at (925) 284-5010.
This warning comes after Vacaville Police notified parents of a similar incident earlier this week.
At this point police have not indicated that the incidents could be related.
