LAKE COUNTY, Calif. (KTVU) - The Soberanes Fire in Monterey County is the main source for the smoke some people there have been experiencing. Some have been under evacuation orders for almost four weeks.
So far the fire has burned 81,000 acres and is now 60 percent contained. Authorities say that fire was sparked by an illegal campfire.
In Lake County, Cal-Fire has lifted the last of the evacuation orders for the Clayton Fire. That fire is now 75 percent contained. The fire started last weekend and destroyed about 300 structures, including 189 single-family homes.
40-year-old Damin Pashilk is charged with deliberately setting the Clayton Fire as well as other small fires.
