Lake Merritt BART station reopens after person survives being hit by train

OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - A major medical emergency prompted BART to close the Lake Merritt station in Oakland.
The incident began at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday. BART says a person was struck by a Dublin / Pleasanton-bound train.
Miraculously, the person who was struck by the BART train survived.
According to a Tweet from the transit agency, the Dublin / Pleasanton and Warm Springs directions were impacted for just over an hour.
Passengers can expect residual delays on the BART system throughout the evening.
