Lifelong A's fan and Walnut Creek grandpa throws out first pitch at game

OAKLAND, Calif. - Marvin Feldman has always been an A's fan.

Back when the team was the Philadelphia Athletics and he was a young boy.

Then in the 1960s, Feldman, now in his 80s, moved to Walnut Creek. So he was ecstatic when the team eventually relocated to Oakland.

Feldman had long hoped to throw out the first pitch for his beloved baseball team. And he was able to cross that off the bucket list on Memorial Day, when the A's played the Tampa Bay Rays. Feldman represented well, wearing green and gold, sporting No. 24 for Rickey Henderson, who retired from the A's and was considered baseball's greatest leadoff hitter and baserunner. The word "Grandpa" was emblazoned on the back of his shirt.

"He did great," the A's tweeted after the pitch.

Feldman has been a ticket season holder for about four decades, his grandson Matt Martinez said, which comes with some perks And after his grandmother joked that her husband would like to test out his pitching arm, his dream became a reality for his family and neighbors who came to witness the marvelous event.

"Me and my mom and my sisters all flew up for the game," Martinez said. 

 He's been married to his wife, Evelyn, for 58 years, celebrated after the big pitch. They have three children, including son, David Feldman, a longtime sports broadcaster who now works for Comcast SportsNet Bay Area.
