Macy's partners with SF SPCA for 29th annual 'Holiday Windows' pet display

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) - A window of opportunity opened in San Francisco's Union Square Friday evening for anyone looking to adopt a pet.

At 5 p.m., the San Francisco SPCA unveiled its 29th annual Holiday Windows, a window display featuring adoptable cats and dogs at Macy's, at the corner of Stockton and O'Farrell streets, according to the organization.

The theme for this year's display is inspired by the 50th anniversary of the holiday animated special "A Charlie Brown Christmas," the organization said.

Special guest Snoopy had the honors of unveiling the display. Students from the De Marillac Academy choir were on hand to perform classic holiday songs.

The store has four window displays, featuring anywhere between five and seven animals in total, according to SF SPCA spokeswoman Krista Maloney.

The displays can be seen daily, starting this Friday through Jan. 3, with hours varying. Temporary adoption centers will be available inside Macy's, Maloney said.

"You can take an animal home straight from the store," Maloney said. "We're super excited. This is our 29th year doing this and it's become a holiday tradition."

During last year's event, 267 animals were adopted and approximately $90,000 was raised, according to the organization.

"We're hoping to beat that number this year," Maloney said.
