Magnitude 3.9 earthquake strikes in Sonoma County
A magnitude 3.7 earthquake strikes west of Cobb in Sonoma County on Dec. 8, 2024.
SONOMA COUNTY, Calif. - The US Geological Survey recorded a magnitude 3.9 earthquake near the Geysers, west of Cobb in Sonoma County on Monday night.
The quake, originally measured at 3.7, struck at 9:55 p.m. at a depth of about 1.24 miles. The temblor was about 15 miles north of Healdsburg.
There were no immediate reports of damage.
The USGS ‘Did You Feel It?’ interactive map showed mostly weak to light responses in Geyserville, Cloverdale, Windsor, Santa Rosa and even parts of Napa.
Last week much of the Northern California coast was alarmed when a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck in the Pacific Ocean off the Humboldt County coast. That massive seismic wave was followed by a tsunami warning that stretched from Oregon to the Monterey Coast and included the Bay Area. That warning was quickly canceled.
