Man arrested for burglarizing East Bay elementary school twice
BRENTWOOD, Calif. - Brentwood police have arrested a man who allegedly burglarized a newly-built elementary on two separate occasions.
Brian Thomas of Oakley is accused of burglarizing Isaac Montanez Elementary School on Oct. 7 and Nov. 18 last year in the early hours of the day when the school was closed.
The 46-year-old was arrested Tuesday by the Antioch Police Department when he was pulled over during a traffic stop.
Brentwood police also responded to the scene and placed him under arrest. Brentwood police said they were able to identify the Oakley resident when a camera captured the car involved in both burglaries. They were able to tie the car back to Thomas.
Police said they found burglary tools and keys inside Thomas' car, which they towed as evidence.
Thomas was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility. Records show he was released from custody Thursday.
What we don't know:
It's unclear what charges, if any, Thomas faces for the alleged burglaries. Police also did not share what was allegedly stolen and if there is any connection between Thomas and the school.
