Coroner's office IDs man found shot to death in Belmont park
BELMONT, Calif. - A 27-year-old man was shot and killed in Belmont on Friday night, police said Saturday.
On Sunday, San Mateo Coroner's Office identified the victim as Diontae Gayden out of San Francisco.
Belmont police officers responded to reports of gunshots at O'Donnell Park, at Hiller and Irwin Streets, at about 8 p.m., where they found the victim with multiple gunshot wounds.
"I mean it's kind of scary, there's somebody who just got murdered outside," said neighbor Thomas Martin, who heard the gunshots ring out. "They pulled him out of the car. He was in the car when he was shot, and police pulled him out and started CPR on the ground right outside of the car with the door open."
Despite emergency medical aid, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.
The scene remained under investigation throughout the night by detectives from the San Mateo County District Attorney's Office and a forensic team from the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
"It’s very shocking, It’s very shocking, because I have never heard of anything like this," said neighbor Manoj Agrawal, who was out walking his dog as police flooded the area. "Normally the latest we come out is nine, but yeah, we’ll have to be careful now."

Police asked anyone with information about the shooting to contact the department, including anyone who might have been driving in the area with a dash camera or nearby residents who have private cameras facing the street.
On Sunday, police followed up with a community alert bulletin. They asked residents in the area to review footage they may have from between 7:30 and 8:25 p.m. from the night of the shooting.
"Hopefully they can catch him pretty soon with surveillance or something, because I know a bunch of people around here have Ring doorbells, so I’m sure something got caught," said Martin.
