Man injured in Pleasant Hill shooting, police say it was drug deal gone bad

Police say a 27-year-old man was shot in Pleasant Hill Friday morning in what appears to be a drug deal gone bad. 

Pleasant Hill police responded to reports of gunshots near Santa Monica Drive near Sun Valley Road at around 11:30 a.m. The victim was seen on the ground in the front yard of a residence waving for help . 

According to police, the man suffered a gunshot wound to his lower body. He was said to be in stable condition and is being treated at a local hospital. 

Based on a preliminary investigation, police said it appeared to be an intended purchase of marijuana at this location, chosen for its proximity to the nearby freeway. 

A witness said he saw a person was shot at around 10:30 a.m. and that he had seen him laying in the grass. 

No suspects have been identified, according to police. The investigation is ongoing.
