A man suspected of vandalizing a police vehicle Sunday was arrested after a short chase on foot, according to the San Francisco Police Department.

At 12:49 a.m. Sunday, officers responded to a vandalism incident at 16th and Albion streets.

Police parked their vehicle on the southeast corner of the intersection to investigate the initial call.

While investigating, officers heard someone yell obscenities at them and a loud bang.

When officers returned to their vehicle, they found shards of glass on the rear of the car.

Police saw a man fleeing on a skateboard and, believing him to be the perpetrator, followed him on foot.

After a short chase, officers detained Neil Norgren, 24, of San Francisco.

He was booked into the San Francisco County Jail and is charged with vandalism, resisting arrest and a traffic violation.

Norgren's next scheduled appearance in court is Aug. 16.
