OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) - Police on Wednesday morning were out early with flashlights looking for a shooter in East Oakland after officers found a man dead on the sidewalk, half a block away from Garfield Elementary School.
The homicide, the 28th of 2019, was reported about 3 a.m. near East 17th Street and 22nd Avenue.
It’s unclear what motivated the shooting, but it occurred in a neighborhood lined with homes. In fact, there was a bullet hole found in the window of the school.
A company was seen towing away a white car in front of the school that police believe may be connected to the shooting.
KTVU reached out to police for more details and is awaiting comment.
