(KTVU and wire report) -- A shooting south of downtown San Jose has turned into a homicide.

Authorities received a report about a shooting on East Virginia Street, near South Fifth Street, at about 5 p.m. Wednesday.

When officers arrived, they found a man suffering from gunshot wounds.

Investigators closed two blocks around the scene, to gather evidence.

San Jose Police announced at 11:30 p.m., the man had died, and the shooting would be reclassified as a homicide.

Authorities had not yet released the identity of the victim, or any suspect information.

This was San Jose's third homicide of 2021.
