Missing autistic girl found safe in Hayward

HAYWARD, Calif. (KTVU and wires) -- An autistic teen who went missing Tuesday afternoon has been found safe, according to the girl's family.

Ariana Williams, an African-American teen with autism, had gone missing after last being seen at a Subway restaurant near the intersection of Jackson and Santa Clara Streets.

Ariana's mother notified KTVU shortly before 6 p.m. that the girl had come home in a taxi and was safe. Police were interviewing the girl, but the search has been called off.
