JACKSON, Miss. - A man in Mississippi was killed after hot asphalt was poured on top of him, according to authorities.
Jackson Police said officers responded to a call about an accident earlier this week at AJ Materials on East McDowell Road.
Officers said they arrived and found an unidentified man buried under hot asphalt.
Police Chief Joseph Wade said it appeared there was a malfunction with a dump truck. Wade said it appeared the victim tried to fix the problem when the asphalt started to pour.
"My prayers, condolences, thoughts, my heart goes out to his family," Wade told reporters at a news conference.
