A toll booth attendant at the Bay Bridge was hit by a truck and killed early Saturday morning, said the California Highway Patrol.

California Department of Transportation Toll Collector Si Si Han, 46, died after a truck rammed into five vehicles lining up to get through a toll booth just after 5:00 a.m.The truck continued moving and slammed into a booth, killing the cashier on duty.

Governor Brown released a statement expressing his condolences for the family, co-workers and friends of Han.

“Anne and I are deeply saddened to learn of the loss of Caltrans Toll Collector Si Si Han, who died today while serving the traveling public," Brown said.

Han was a Caltrans employee for over 10 years. She is survived by her husband, Ryan, and their 10-year-old daughter, Ashly, Governor Brown said in a statement. Flags at the capitol will be flown at half-staff in her honor.

CHP arrested the driver, Daniel Berk, 32, of Foster City, for suspicion of driving under the influence and manslaughter. Berk and a passenger in the box truck were ejected from the vehicle, said Officer Vu Williams, CHP. Berk will reportedly be in the hospital for at least one week.

A sig alert was issued and officials said it could take 8 to 10 hours before the scene is cleared.

The crash affected 8 lanes at the toll plaza, creating a large backup in the East Bay for cars heading into San Francisco.
