Mountain lion captured in Santa Rosa shopping area

SANTA ROSA (KTVU) - A mountain lion that was roaming the streets in a Santa Rosa shopping center Monday morning has been captured. 

The mountain lion was first noticed around 4:30 a.m. in the busy shopping area of B St. between 4th and 7th. 

Authorities responded and "sedated and secured" the mountain lion. 

Streets in the area were shut down until around 10:30 a.m. while the mountain lion was tranquilized. 

Police say it's rare to see mountain lions in such a populated area.
