CONCORD, Calif. (KTVU) - An 18-year-old student at Mt. Diablo High School was stabbed on Monday morning, but a district spokeswoman emphasized the violence occurred off campus.
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District spokesman Steve Hill said the boy was stabbed just before 8 a.m. in the 2400 block of Grant Street in Concord.
He was taken to the hospital and the school district said he was in stable condition.
The district spokeswoman said the stabbing occurred at the Todos Santos Plaza, which is close to campus and he drove himself to school, flagging down a friend for help.
The school district said he is a senior.
Lt. Mike Kindorff said the boy received a "shallow stab" and police don't have a suspect in custody or a reason behind the violence.
