Mustang crashes into Lafayette home, driver taken to hospital

LAFAYETTE, Calif. (KTVU) - The driver of a Mustang was taken to the hospital after crashing into a Lafayette home Thursday just after 8 a.m.  

The homeowner was inside when the car crashed into the home, which is located in the 600 block of Glenside Drive. The car went through two bedrooms, a bathroom and living room. 

“It’s just an incredible sight to see the back of a car sitting in a house,” Iris Hillman, a nearby resident, said.

The homeowner tells KTVU, “It was stronger than any earthquake I ever felt”. 

No one inside the home was hurt. The driver, a woman in her 70’s, was extricated and taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek for complaints of pain. She is expected to be OK.

Some windows of the house were blown out and part of the ceiling collapsed. Despite the damage, the house was not red-tagged. Speed was believed to be a factor in the crash.

At this point, additional details have not been released.
