Narcotics suspect runs into South SF High School: police

A suspect in a narcotics investigation had a standoff inside South San Francisco High School before eventually surrendering, police said.

Around 12:25 p.m. Friday, SSFPD was conducting a narcotics investigation in the 300 block of El Camino Real and were speaking with a suspect who suddenly ran away from them.

The suspect ran to nearby South San Francisco High School and into a classroom.

Students in the classroom were evacuated, and the school went on secure campus status, police said.

South San Francisco Police Department's crisis negotiators and mental health response team were able to successfully deescalate the scene, and four hours later the suspect voluntarily left the classroom and was taken into custody.
