Rover’s poll of pet parents found these were the most popular dog breeds in the U.S.:
- Mixed
- Labrador Retriever
- Goldendoodle
- Golden Retriever
- German Shepherd
- Chihuahua
- French bulldog
- Dachshund

Dog breeds by generation
Among all generations, mixed breeds were still the most popular. But the second most popular varied widely:
- Baby Boomers: Chihuahua
- Gen X: Labrador Retriever
- Millennials: German Shepherd
- Gen Z: Golden Retriever

Rover’s poll of pet parents found these were the four rarest dog breeds in the U.S.:

- English Toy Terrier (Black and tan)
- Canaan Dog
