OAKLAND, Calif. (KTVU) -- The Oakland A's first ever LGBTQ Pride Night has led to a ticket buyback effort after some season ticket holders said they would "sit" this one out.

One woman is now working to make sure the stands are packed for the game.

The A's organization announced the event earlier this week.

"I saw some negative comments about Oakland A's Pride Night," explained Eireann Dolan.

Dolan is A's Pitcher Sean Doolittle's girlfriend and a social media powerhouse in her own right.

"Some of the social media posts, comments on Facebook, everything… you know I follow a lot of fans so it was really disheartening to see their responses to this," said Dolan.

Dolan says some of the season ticket holders posted that they'd rather not attend a Pride themed game. So she took to her blog, ‘Thank You Based Ball.'

"If you don't want to go, don't go. It's probably a better idea if you don't. I'll buy your tickets and I'll give them to Our Space," explained Dolan. Our Space is a local LGBTQ shelter.

"Well, I don't want any seats to go to waste. I want people to be there who can actually benefit from being there," said Dolan.

For her this Pride Night is personal.

"My Mom came out to me ironically in San Francisco or rather appropriately in San Francisco when I was a teenager and I was the first person she came out to. And when she started telling me she had hives. She had a physical reaction. She was so nervous and I hope nobody ever feels so nervous that they might not be accepted for who they are," said Dolan.

From there her family grew: Dad, Mom, and Second Mom.

"Her partner Elise, my Second Mom as I like to call her, she was raised in the Bay Area in Hayward so she was a diehard A's fan. Her parents couldn't afford tickets so she used to watch games with her brother's through the fence," recalled Dolan.

Now, Dolan's Moms will join her, in the stands, for the June 17th game against the San Diego Padres.

"They can't wait for a night like this," said Dolan.

The A's already host ‘Filipino Heritage Night,' ‘Jewish Heritage Night,' ‘Faith and Family Day' and whole list of other ethnic and belief themed events, which begs the question, can't we all just be 'baseball fans?'

"Just because they are including one group doesn't mean everyone else is excluded," said Dolan.
