Oakland homeless encampment triggers tree house fire
A homeless encampment triggered a tree house fire early Thursday morning, according to fire dispatchers.
The fire was reported about 4:40 a.m. near East 12th Street and 16th Avenue.
No injuries were reported. There were about 10 tents in the area, including a tree fort being used as shelter, the dispatcher said.
There have been a series of fires in recent months at Oakland homeless encampments. Last week, police said they are looking for a suspected arsonist in at least one of the cases.
