Oakland police officer hurt, fired at by suspect

UPDATE: As of 11:45 PM, the search for the suspect is ongoing. Police are not saying who they're looking for, but they believe there to be only one suspect.

Officer Johnna Watson addressed the media late into the night Saturday near 73rd Ave. and Weld St. after an officer-involved shooting at that location just two hours earlier.

At approximately 9:25 PM, the suspect shot multiple times at a female Oakland Police officer who was riding alone in her patrol vehicle at the time.

The officer was not hit, however was injured in a related altercation at that location.

The motive for the shooting is unknown.

Police are reviewing nearby surveillance footage for suspect and vehicle information.

No vehicle description was made public by police.
