Oakland store employee shoots at would-be robbers
OAKLAND, Calif. - A robbery was thwarted after a store employee at a local store fired a gun at suspects Saturday morning, Oakland police said.
The robbery occurred in the 9700 block of Edes Avenue just before 7 a.m., police said. Many individuals tried to use their cars to break into a business.
An employee fired a weapon, which caused the suspects to run and leave empty-handed.
Police did not specify how many suspects attempted to break into the store.
Officers recovered a gun at the scene.
The employee was detained, police told KTVU. It's unclear if he faces any charges.
Multiple businesses were broken into Saturday. It's unclear if the suspects in this case are responsible for the others. Police are asking any witnesses or those with information about the burglaries to contact them at (510) 238-3951.
