Oakland's Zendaya is engaged to Tom Holland: report
LOS ANGELES - Oakland native and Hollywood superstar Zendaya is reportedly engaged to Spider-Man star Tom Holland.
TMZ is reported that Holland proposed during the holidays. Crediting a source close to the couple, the entertainment outlet said Holland got on "one knee in a very intimate setting in one of Zendaya's family homes in the United States."
On Sunday at the Golden Globes in Beverly Hills, Zendaya was seen wearing what appeared to be a large diamond engagement ring on her left hand.
"We're told Tom didn't make a huge show of the engagement -- it wasn't a big, over-the-top proposal," TMZ reported. "Our sources say the family wasn't there ... it was just a sweet moment between Tom and Zendaya."

Timeline:
In 2016, Zendaya and Holland were cast in the blockbuster film "Spider-Man: Homecoming." And about a year later, rumors began swirling about their romantic involvement.
The two stars, who both largely kept their romantic lives out of the spotlight, went public with their relationship in 2021.
On September 1, 2021, in an Instagram post celebrating Zendaya’s 25th birthday, Holland sent her a touching message, which seemed to confirm their dating status.
On June 1, 2022. Zendaya posted a message to Holland on his birthday, calling him "the one who makes me the happiest."
The two posts have since been revisited by fans on Monday with congratulations to the couple on the reported engagement.
Local perspective:
Zendaya was born and raised in Oakland and attended the private Redwood Day School, located near the city’s Dimond and Glenview districts. She was also a student at visual and performing arts charter school Oakland School for the Arts (OSA).
The two-time Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe recipient has remained close to her Bay Area roots. Last year, she donated $100K in an effort to save the California Shakespeare Theater in Orinda, which she says helped start her career. In October, the theater company announced it would be closing after 50 years, due to "insurmountable" financial challenges.
Zendaya has been known to return to her hometown, stopping to visit Oakland schools, including those she attended.
In 2018, after a popular elementary school coach in Oakland was shot to death, Zendaya and her mother, a former Oakland school teacher, helped in the effort to raise money to support the late coach's wife and daughters.
