SAN FRANCISCO - Saturday morning, a San Francisco police officer fatally struck a pedestrian in the Bernal Heights neighborhood, officials said.
The accident occurred around 6:20 a.m. near Bayshore Boulevard and Industrial Street. The officer was on duty when the accident occurred, SFPD said in a statement.
The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries where he later died.
The officer was not injured, SFPD said. The department's Traffic Collision Investigations Unit responded to the scene and is investigating the collision.
