Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on I-80 in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO - The California Highway Patrol on Monday began investigating a deadly hit-and-run on the I-80 freeway heading into San Francisco.

The death was reported between the Fifth and Ninth streets exits. 

CHP Officer Mark Andrews said a car hit the pedestrian about 1:30 a.m. and the driver fled the scene.

"We have no idea what the vehicle involved is," he said. 

The road was closed for several hours.
