Pedestrian struck by on-duty SFPD officer identified as 65-year-old man

San Francisco's Office of the Chief Medical Examiner identified a person fatally struck by a police officer over the weekend in the city's Bernal Heights neighborhood. 

The incident occurred around 6:20 a.m. Saturday near Bayshore Boulevard and Industrial Street and involved an on-duty officer, the police department said.

On Tuesday, the medical examiner identified the victim as 65-year-old Walter Alfredo Castillo, of San Francisco.

The officer was not injured, SFPD said. 

The department's traffic investigations unit responded to the scene and is investigating the collision, according to the department.
