Pedicab driver, family of 4 struck in hit and run along SF Embarcadero

A family of four in a pedicab and the operator were struck in a hit and run crash along San Francisco's Embarcadero Wednesday afternoon. 

According to San Francisco Police Department spokesperson Grace Gatpandan, the pedal cab operator sustained life-threatening injuries. The mother, father and two children as young as eight and five-years old all suffered non-life threatening injuries.  

San Francisco Fire Department confirms that at least one of the victims was transported to a trauma center and that there are serious injuries. 

The crash occurred at 4:14 p.m. on Sansome Street and Embarcadero near Pier 29.  Police say the suspect vehicle, described as a light colored sedan, made contact with the pedicab. 

The vehicle was last seen headed to the Bay Bridge. Officers are putting out a call for any potential surveillance video of the crash and are encouraged to contact the investigators. 

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
