Person injured in Hercules in latest East Bay freeway shooting
HERCULES, Calif. (KTVU) - The CHP is investigating the latest shooting on an East Bay freeway.
According to authorities, the 25-year-old victim was driving a Nissan Altima on eastbound Interstate 80 in
Hercules, near Pinole Vally Road around 10:30 p.m. Thursday.
He said that he noticed a white sedan pull up on his right side, and then gunshots rang out from the sedan.
The Nissan was hit four times, while the driver was struck twice in the right leg.
The gunfire caused him to swerve to the left, and crash into a concrete center divide.
His car rolled several times.
The victim was taken to John Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, where he was treated and released.
Investigators shut down that section of the freeway to look for clues as to the motive of the attack, and whether
it's linked to the recent rash of East Bay freeway shootings.
The sedan fled the area, and authorities do not have the make of the car, or a suspect's description.
Anyone with information about the incident, is asked to call Contra Costa CHP at 925-646-4980.
