Petaluma is the first Bay Area city to offer free bus rides

PETALUMA, Calif. - Petaluma is the first Bay Area city to offer free bus rides.

The city's transit services will be completely fare-free as part of a one-year pilot program.

City leaders say the goal is to help people learn about public transit, remove cost barriers, and meet the city's climate goals.

Riders don't have to live in Petaluma to get free rides.
