Piedmont crews were called for a unique rescue early Friday morning when a homeowner near Piedmont heard a loud noise and found a deer stuck in a metal fence.

Once on scene, firefighters needed to use the jaws of life to help remove the deer about 6 a.m. from the fence on Hampton Lane. One firefighter even put a towel over the deer's face to help keep it calm.

Once freed, the deer took off down the street. Crews say the get calls like this several times a year.
