Pittsburg police search for driver in deadly hit and run
PITTSBURG, Calif. (KTVU) - Officers are searching for the driver involved in a deadly hit and run Wednesday morning.
Contra Costa County coroner's office identified the victim as Felipe Estrella, 42, of Pittsburg. Family members said he worked the late shift at a local restaurant.
Officers responded after a vehicle crashed into Estrella around 1:24 a.m. near the intersection of West Leland Road, between Bailey Road and Chestnut Drive.
Firefighters from Station 87 of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District were headed back to their station after a call when they came across the scene, said district spokesman Steve Hill. But Estrella died at the scene.
The driver fled from the area. Details of the make and model of the vehicle are not known at the time.

The victim was initially identified in this report as 37-year-old Felipe Ramirez.
