First responders are currently searching for a plumber who went unconscious after a CO2 leak underneath a catering facility at San Francisco International Airport.

According to a spokesman for SFO, the incident began just before 3:30 p.m. Saturday. Two plumbers were working to fix a ruptured sewer line underneath the Gate Gourmet catering facility, located at 649 W. Field Road on SFO property when a carbon dioxide leak overtook both plumbers.

One plumber fell unconscious and the second plumber began to drag him out but was unable to completely remove him from the area. When first responders arrived, they were unable to locate the unconscious man.

The missing plumber may have regained consciousness and left the area on his own. He does not have a cell phone or a radio to communicate with. First responders are continuing to search under the facility for the man to ensure he is safe.
