SAN FRANCISCO - Authorities are investigating a police shooting in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood on Thursday.
At around 3:09 p.m., officers responded to the area of Ingalls Street and Armstrong Avenue regarding a report of a person with a rifle, according to the San Francisco Police Department. When officers arrived, they located a man near Jennings Street and Donner Avenue.
"During the contact, an officer-involved shooting occurred," said Officer Paulina Henderson, a spokesperson for the police department.
Contra Costa County Fair employees robbed at gunpoint of $100K
Two Contra Costa County Fair employees were robbed at gunpoint of $100,000 in cash while making a bank deposit.
Henderson did not provide details on what led the officers to open fire. She said the man was injured but not by any gunfire.
Henderson said that less-lethal force was used to take the suspect into custody. He was then transported to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Authorities did not specify what type of force was used on the man.
No officers were injured.
Henderson said a weapon was seized.
Footage from the scene showed crime scene tape and about a dozen officers surrounding the cordoned-off area.
The department plans to share additional information on the incident at a town hall meeting in the next 10 days.
