SAN JOSE, Calif. (KTVU) - A police pursuit and suspect search shut down the McKee road off-ramp of Southbound I-680 in San Jose early Monday morning.
The pursuit began around 3:20a.m. when the vehicle pulled into a gas station in San Jose.
A deputy in the area, just happened to see the vehicle, run the plate, and discover that it was reported stolen out of Milpitas.
Officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled and a high-speed pursuit began.
The suspect reached speed of 80-100 miles per hour and at one point drove the wrong way on I-680.
Officials eventually deployed spike strips, damaging the vehicle's wheels and brinigng the pursuit to an end at the McKee road off-ramp around 4:00a.m.
The male driver abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bushes, while a female passenger stayed behind.
Police set up a perimeter and searched for the suspect, but were unable to locate him and called off the search just after 5:00a.m.
The outstanding suspect is described as a light-skinned Hispanic male, between 30-40 years old, 5' 8"-5'-9" inches tall, about 180 pounds, with a mustache, wearing black-rimmed glasses, long black shirt, and red and white shoes.
The McKee road off-ramp reopened around 6:00 a.m.
