Police standoff in San Francisco enters second day
SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. (KTVU) - Police have surrounded a man who's been holed up since Wednesday afternoon at a home on Miramar Avenue near Holloway and Ocean Avenues.
Police say they have determined the man is mentally ill and will get him the services he needs.
The incident is happening on the 200 block of Miramar Avenue, just a few blocks away from the main campus of City College of San Francisco.
Officers do not know if the suspect is armed.
The standoff began around 1:36p.m. on Wednesday when police tried to apprehend a wanted suspect.
The man apparently barricaded himself inside an apartment in the building and has not emerged since then.
SFPD's hostage negotiation team is in communication with the suspect.
They do not believe there is anyone else inside the apartment.
Several blocks of Miramar Ave are closed around the scene.
